"It is a crime to use the postal system to carry out any sort of scheme designed to defraud someone." This means that it is illegal to use the United States Postal Service to knowingly scam someone out of items (i.e. gift cards, merchanise, money, etc.). Hence it is considered mail fraud to promise someone something in a trade in order to gain something from them while never having the intention of following through on your end. Legal action can be taken against any person who has commited mail fraud!!!
